When page order goes wrong
Two situations produce most out-of-order documents. Double-sided scanning on a single-sided feeder gives you all the fronts followed by all the backs, so a ten-page document arrives as 1,3,5,7,9,2,4,6,8,10. The other is assembling a document from several sources, where sections end up in whatever order they were merged. Both are tedious to fix by counting, which is why this tool shows every page as a thumbnail — you rearrange by looking at content, not by tracking numbers in your head.
Every page keeps its original quality
Reordering copies pages into a new sequence without re-encoding them, so nothing about the page content changes — text stays selectable, images keep their resolution, and file size stays roughly the same. The only thing that changes is the order in which pages appear. Each thumbnail also shows which original page it was, so you can always trace where a page came from while you are rearranging.
Reorder before you add page numbers
If you plan to stamp page numbers onto the document, do the reordering first. Page numbers are drawn onto the page as content, so a page numbered 4 that you later move to position 2 will still visibly read 4 while sitting second in the file. Getting the sequence right and numbering afterwards avoids a document that contradicts itself.
